I get the appeal of having several apps for different purposes, but recently it seems that all of them are blending into the same stupid tiktok clone. Instagram has reels, youtube has shorts, facebook has whatever-they-wanna-call it. This isn't the first time this has happened - it happened back in the mid 2010s when snapchat refused to sell itself to facebook, so they promptly reacted by stealing the idea of stories. The reason this annoys me so much is because it is killing the insentive to create new features, and its just leaving us with half a dozen apps on our phones which do the exact same things. "I'm gonna uninstall tiktok, its taking up way too much of my time!" That's cool,,, enjoy getting the exact same dopamine supplying time sucking short form content on literally every other app! "So just uninstall all of the apps, no biggie, right?" Right, but for some reason, we can't all just agree on one app for talking to each other - and 9 times out of 10 nobody's messaging on the actual messages app on their phones. "I sent you a message" Cool, cool. On which platform? My ADHD ass struggles to keep up with messages as it is, having 5 different apps to keep an eye on is unbearable. Anyways, if you message people on tiktok consider yourself an opp and also if you use snapchat and youre over the age of 14 what are you doing with your life
